Lake Bonavista homes were revolutionary in its time. One of the first master-planned communities that were built around a man-made lake. It would later become the blueprint for future man-made lakes in Calgary and surrounding areas.
The lake of Lake Bonavista community is 52 acres and consists of playgrounds, beaches, clubhouse, toboggan hill, tennis courts, and even an island! One of the best views of the lake comes from the dining area of The Lake House restaurant in the Bonavista Promenade shopping area. This award-winning restaurant is sure to please and while the sun is setting you can head out to the deck overlooking the lake for an evening beverage.
The community actually has two lakes, Lake Bonavista and Lake Bonaventure. Lake Bonaventure is a private lake only accessible by the homes that border it. But don’t fret as Lake Bonavista is large enough for anyone that lives in the community and is only available to those that call Bonavista home.
Besides shopping and interesting shops, there is a full indoor skating rink for hockey and other ice sports. Next to that is the Lake Bonavista Community Association center with all kinds of great programs for kids and families to enjoy.
There is a great mix of elementary and junior high schools for either public or separate school boards. Lake Bonavista, Andrew Sibald, Sam Livingston, Nickle Junior High, St Boniface, and St Bonaventure to name a few.
